COVID-19 Our Repsonse

Check back here for up to date information regarding our current protocols and procedures.

The Health Department has expressed their appreciation for our continued efforts to support community health by offering a variety of ways for students to continue to dance safely. After all, health is not just about avoiding sickness. It’s also about building strong bodies, minds, and hearts- something that happens in each and every class at Red Door! We are keeping safety and wellness as a top priority. Please read current procedures below:

  • Starting on Monday, March 15, masks will still be required for ages 10+ upon entering and exiting the building and while not dancing (required when dancers wait in the lobby between class, parents entering to talk to the front desk, bathroom breaks, etc). While dancing, masks can be removed if the parent/student chooses to. We anticipate many will still prefer to wear a mask and we are in support of that being everyone’s choice. This announcement does not give us cause to be less vigilant in our cleaning procedures, illness monitoring or adjusted procedures. We ask that if your dancer is ill to stay home and attend class via Zoom. Our lobby will remain closed for the time being to help combat any unnecessary germs entering the studio. Entrances and exits will remain as is from different doors to lessen the traffic through the halls.
  • Drop off and pick up for dance classes will happen at separate exterior entrances to limit traffic flow.
    • Misty Copeland Room will enter and exit through the back door (north side of building)
    • Bob Fosse & Martha Graham Rooms will enter and exit through the front/main door
    • Gregory Hines Room will enter and exit through side door (west side of building)
    • Reach out to us if you don’t know which dance room your child’s class is in and we can help!
  • Dancers & Teachers will hand sanitize at the start and end of each class.
  • Lobby is closed. Please wait in your cars or come back to pick up at the end of class to keep the amount of people in the building down. If you have questions for our front desk please call or email and we can most likely help you that way. If you need to try on dance wear or shoes or have something you need to ask in person you can come in through front doors with your mask on.
  • All classes will end 5 minutes early so staff can sanitize the rooms in between each class. All surfaces (dance barres, music cabinets, etc) will be sanitized before the next class comes in. Please be ready to promptly pick your dancer up at the appropriate door at this time.
  • Do not send dancers with fever or signs of illness. If someone in your household has tested positive for COVID 19 please do not come to class.
  • Kids in Multiple Classes: If your dancer is in back to back classes they can stay at the studio and move to the correct room for their next class. They will sit in the lobby, spaced out while the dance rooms are being sanitized in between classes.
  • Curriculum Adjustments: We have made adjustments to the way we teach classes so dancers are not sharing any classroom props, they are spaced out more throughout class and we have made changes to some activities so dancers are not holding hands, holding shoulders for our “choo choo train” and more.

We recognize this is a strange time, but we are prepared to handle it! We know this is a temporary situation and this will pass. We want everyone to be happy, healthy and to keep dancing!
